Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a diverse ethnic background. Her father Elroy is Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. She has two younger brothers and one older sister. She was raised and born in Bahrain. The family of her parents been to the country in the 1980s as a result of the turmoil that occurred in Sri Lanka. Following her education in Bahrain and after that, she received the Scholarship to study at the University of Sydney, where she earned a master's degree with a major in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. To enhance her interest in cultures, languages and other languages she enrolled in the Berlitz language schools where she was able to learn Spanish in addition to improving French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later was also crowned Miss Universe 2006 also. Her first appearance on television was after she won her the Miss Sri Lanka title. The show she hosts, Lanka Business Report, covers Sri Lankan business. Padukone's father is badminton-player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has been born in Copenhagen as well as Bangalore. When she was in her teens she played in badminton championships at national and international levels. But, she resigned from the sport to pursue a career as fashion designer. Padukone is of Mangalorean origin, and her mother tongue is Konkani. Padukone is a village located situated in Kundapura Taluk located in Udupi in Karnataka State in India, is where her lineage is derived from. Prakash Padukone's father was an international champion in badminton who has retiring. Her mom is a travel agent.
